Welcome Message
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is with great joy and deep pride that I invite you to join us in Singapore for the 19th International Congress of Behavioral Medicine — ICBM 2027.
This Congress means a great deal to me personally. Behavioral medicine has always been a field driven by people who believe that science can and should change lives — and looking out at this community, I see that conviction alive in every corner of the globe. ICBM is where that community comes together, and I could not be more honored to welcome you to it.
Our theme — The Transformative Power of Behavioral Medicine: Time to Act — reflects where we are as a field. We have built an extraordinary body of evidence. We have developed interventions that work. We have trained generations of researchers and clinicians who are ready. What the world needs now is for us to move that knowledge from the page into practice, from the lab into policy, and from promise into impact. Singapore, a city that has itself transformed health and quality of life through bold, evidence-informed action, is the perfect place to take that step together.
Over four days, you will engage with world-class science, hear from visionary leaders, and connect with colleagues from across disciplines and continents. But more than any single session or keynote, I hope you leave Singapore with something harder to measure and more important: a renewed sense of purpose, and a clearer picture of the role you will play in the transformation ahead.
The time to act is now — and I look forward to acting alongside each of you.
With warmth and anticipation,
Michael Hoyt
President, ISBM
